Signs That Your Plumbing May Be Experiencing Difficulties

What are the warning signs that you may be experiencing plumbing issues?

Unless you are a master plumber yourself, it can be hard to keep up with your plumbing on top of all of the tasks and stresses of the day. After awhile, many of us just come to accept the various quirks and seemingly minor issues of our plumbing. Some of these things may even be so common and seemingly tiny that we don’t think about them at all. In fact, that rattling noise you hear come for your pipes or that perpetually leaky faucet may be more than just the quirks of a house. They can be indicative of larger problems. Here are some things to look out for.

Odd Plumbing Sounds

If your plumbing sounds like it is struggling, it probably is. If your pipes constantly rattle and make noise, it is likely time to have them looked at, before a small problem balloons into an insurmountable one. Also, if your toilet constantly sounds like the water is running, this is a bad sign.Toilets that are under pressure and on their way out may also make odd bubbling sounds. Keep your ears peeled for these signs and don’t ignore them.

Leaks

There is no such thing as a minor leak. If you notice constant leaks, get it addressed before you end up with not only a leaking problem, but a flooding problem. This excess water can lead to mold, mildew, and even structural damage to your home over time, which is why taking care of it ASAP is critical. Whether you have a small leak coming from a pipe or repeated flooding in your basement, it needs to be addressed.

Higher Bills and Lower Performance

Plumbing issues can make your whole system inefficient, which means it requires more water to run. This can lead to a jump in bills, even as your plumbing becomes less and less reliable. If you notice a sudden unexplained spike in your bill, there may be something wrong. If you aren’t careful you may end up paying a lot for low water pressure, poor drainage, leaks, flooding, loud pipes, mold and mildew, and maybe even hot water that smells like rotten eggs.
